The holidays are a time of joyous celebration for many, but especially for Sarah Fucigna and Bryan Wilbur, whose love story has revolved around the holiday season. The pair, who met through mutual friends and had their first date skiing in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, were engaged a few days before Christmas 2015. They knew instantly they wanted a winter wedding.

The duo decided to host their nuptials on New Year’s Eve at Mountain Top Inn & Resort in Vermont. A big snowstorm and gorgeous wintry décor emphasized the theme of their wedding. “We really wanted the day to be about embracing the winter and the holiday season,” says Sarah, who chose green, marsala, gold and black as the color palette for their big day. They incorporated holiday decorations like handmade 8-foot-long garlands filled with white pine, red berries and boxwoods, and even a large Christmas tree. The space was also decorated with votive candles, lanterns and gold-dusted pinecones illuminated by white lights.

For their intimate ceremony, Sarah and Bryan wrote and recited their own vows. Afterward, the couple celebrated their union, as well as the start of the New Year, surrounded by their loved ones. “We wanted the entire weekend to feel like a really fun winter getaway in a cozy, warm, magical setting,” says Sarah. “At the end of the night, I was just so excited to take my shoes off and let loose on the dance floor with my new husband, family and friends!”
