In our humble opinion, the only thing more romantic than walking through a field of wildflowers is eloping in one. Where better to take a scenic stroll down rambling meadows and wooded trails than the Norman Bird Sanctuary, nestled just outside of Newport, RI on 325 pristine acres? This styled shoot from Champagne & Ink, Joe Laurin Photography, Greenlion Designs, Jenny Kay Beauty and The Beauty Pin is literally a breath of fresh air and a joy to be featuring, thanks to the laid back, bohemian looks for the bride and her bestie, chambray denim accents on a rustic farmhouse table, and lush florals in a riot of coral hues. We’re also digging the groom’s casual style, and bet he is, too!
Here’s what Danielle and Ellen of the Newport wedding design and planning collaboration Champagne & Ink had to say about the shoot:
When we were asked to join forces with Joseph Laurin Photography, GreenLion Design and Jennie Kay Beauty / The Beauty Pin we knew this styled shoot was going to be a great one. With all of the glitz and preppy glamor of the Newport wedding season ahead of all of us, we wanted to break free and do something that was down to earth and wonderfully bohemian while staying sophisticated. Our concept was for an outdoor elopement on the beautiful grounds of the Norman Bird Sanctuary, our bride and groom had escaped their city life for this calm moment in time to celebrate each other.
The bride, maid of honor and groom were styled by The Beauty Pin, who contrasted textures by pairing denim and lace, pure whites and masculine tones. The bride wore a fabulous crochet short dress and cropped leather booties to hike around the fields in, which she opted to switch over into bright rain boots when it started to shower. The groom donned a clean and simple button down shirt paired with a tangerine necktie and accented with a simple denim and feather boutonniere by GreenLion Design.
The reception dinner for four we wanted to play with the mesh the natural environment that surrounded us with bright pops of tangerine and pink and hard gunmetal Tolix chairs. Simple chambray runners and napkins accented the pure white enamel plates and cut crystal stemware. And we of course had to include a nod to the avian friends that were surrounding us, but added a modern flair by painting the feathers with tangerine stripes. GreenLion Design brought in the star power with a beautiful arrangement of desert roses, peonies and ranunculus tucked into a vintage mercury glass container.
We truly enjoyed putting this shoot together, and can’t wait to be a part of a real wedding at this amazing venue.
