Planning the actual wedding is stressful enough, your honeymoon should be an easy decision and a place that fits naturally with you and your mate’s personality and travel style. While exotic and international is certainly appealing, there’s certain advantages to keeping it in the states, without skimping on luxury and things to do and see.
Hawaii is an obvious choice for a tropical destination without a passport. Maui was recently rated #1 on US News & World Report’s Best Honeymoon Destinations of 2014 and for good reason. It will satisfy both the adventure aspect and the oceanfront lounging and boasts beautiful beaches, tropical landscapes and natural wonders to enjoy. Kauai is another Hawaiian option and was recommended by The Huffington Post as the perfect choice for those seeking R&R and sunshine on their honeymoon – and really, who isn’t??
Other US destinations that won’t disappoint include Key West (island life at its finest), Napa Valley (hello wine, delicious food and relaxation) and Lake Tahoe (for nature-lovers).
Planing an amazing honeymoon that won’t involve vaccines, visas and currency exchange is definitely doable. One other destination to keep in mind – Puerto Rico. This US Territory doesn’t require a passport and has great weather, history, beaches and shopping.
