The Grammy’s: From Music to a Mass Wedding

There are a million things we could recap for you from last night’s Grammy Awards (like the fabulous fashion, the performances and the actual winners) but let’s start with the fact that 34 couples GOT MARRIED  in the aisles of The Staples Center in LA by newly ordained Queen Latifah while Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert sang “Same Love” and were then joined by Madonna for a rendition of “Open Your Heart.” Yes, 34 couples both gay, straight, black, white, young and old exchanged vows in a show of solidarity for same sex marriage and I’ll admit I shed a tear or two (as did Keith Urban and other stars who were caught on camera openly weeping). I know it’s supposed to be an awards show about music and some people thought it was a bit drastic to bring religion, sex and politics into it, but I thought it was pretty fantastic. Besides, can you imagine telling your grandkids someday that Queen Latifah married you and Jay and Bey were at your wedding??
