Nadine & Kyle

Nadine Aziz and Kyle Trudeau had been together for over five years when they were engaged at Portland Head Light in Maine, overlooking the ocean. “We like to take our time and go slow,” says Nadine. True to form, the two enjoyed a three-year-long engagement before planning the wedding of their dreams.
While Kyle is from Michigan, and Nadine is from Egypt (though her family currently lives in New Jersey), it was in Boston that they met while studying at Boston University. For this reason, she says, “We wanted something very New England-inspired.”
After visiting about 45 wedding venues over the next year, they sought help from event planner Cristen Faherty of Cristen & Co., who was able to take the “blueprint” for their wedding day and make it concrete. The end result? A double-ceremony wedding—the first honoring the Coptic Orthodox traditions of Nadine’s family, and the second allowing the couple a more personal exchange of vows—followed by a fabulous reception at the New Bedford Whaling Museum.
Other personal touches: instead of a wedding cake, the couple had a custom doughnut bar by Rhode Island-based PVDonuts; and the DJ, a friend of Nadine’s, played both cross-generational American songs and Middle Eastern music. Tying in the New England theme, Cristen & Co. transformed hand-collected clam shells into escort cards. “Everyone ended up taking home their escort cards as if they were gifts,” says Nadine.
Since guests traveled from all over to be there, Nadine says they were determined to give them “one heck of a party.” “And I think we delivered on that,” she says.
