Kayleigh & David

High school sweethearts Kayleigh McCann and David Pugliese were together for more than a decade before they tied the knot. Since the proposal was a while coming, David wanted to make sure his presentation was the cat’s meow and, according to his now-wife, he nailed it. While at home in their New York City apartment, David enlisted the couple’s furry friend to lend a paw. “He put the ring on the collar of our cat,” says Kayleigh. “I didn’t see it at first so he had to direct me. It was so cute.”
For their big day, the couple decided to leave the hustle and bustle of the city for The Mansion at Bald Hill, a historic landmark. The venue, with its exquisite grounds and grand ballroom, was the perfect spot for the outdoor, fairytale beginning Kayleigh had always dreamt of.
However, when rainstorms put a damper on the open-air ceremony, the bride was heartbroken. In that moment, her true prince came to the rescue, again with help from the pair’s feline.
“We love our cat and learned that when a cat slow blinks, it means I love you. When Dave saw me, he knew I was upset so he gave my hands a squeeze and slow blinked at me,” says Kayleigh. “It was so comforting. In that moment, I knew this day was about us and nothing else.”
Later that evening, after the “I Do’s” were exchanged, the couple focused on having a good time with their family and friends to the tunes of the eight-piece ensemble Clockwork Boston.
“The band was amazing, especially the saxophonist,” says Kayleigh. “They engaged with the crowd; everyone was dancing.”
Even with the rain, Kayleigh and David cherished every moment of their wedding day. “No matter what, you’re marrying your best friend and having the support from our loved ones meant everything to us.”
