After a sweet proposal on a tree-lined carriage walk in New England, Rachel and Kevin began planning for their wedding, a day Rachel envisioned as home grown and organic. “We didn’t want the instant wedding-in-a-box, but rather, we wanted to create something completely unique,” she says. “Glamour on a farm immediately appealed to me.”
Mount Hope Farm in Bristol was the perfect compromise. Cove Cabin, a quaint, rustic building on the grounds with sweeping views of Narragansett Bay and Mount Hope Bridge, was a charming spot for the couple’s cocktail hour and reception. Wildflowers mixed with white and yellow calla lilies provided the basis for an event that had both masculine and elegant details, raw, organic products and classy, crystal décor. “We loved the idea of people dressed to the nines on an oceanside farm,” says Rachel, “with roosters and crystal chandeliers in tow…it was very important to us to have as many elements as possible connected to us as a couple.”
As the Rabbi explained the significance of the Ketubah, a Jewish marriage agreement, Rachel and Kevin shared a moment of peace and true appreciation for what they were experiencing together – a quiet gift among the frenzy and excitement of the day.
While at first Rachel found it difficult to throw herself into the wedding planning and materialize a solid vision, she became inspired in just enough time to pull together, with the help of amazing family and friends, an exquisite event that truly personalized her and her husband-to-be. “I realized [planning a wedding] could be just as artistic as writing a song,” says Rachel. “I really dove into it.”
