High school sweethearts Amy and Andrew have been in love since they were teenagers. However, the couple didn’t fall head over heels for the city of Providence—the location where they got engaged and later tied the knot—until years later while attending college. “Providence is a special place for us. While at Providence College, we fell in love with the city,” says Amy. “It just felt right getting married at the Biltmore Hotel. I love that it has that 1920s, elegant vibe and old-fashioned feel.”

Before the wedding bells rang, however, Andrew popped the question in a unique and heartfelt way. “Halloween is our anniversary so it’s always been special to us,” shares Amy. “We went to the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at Roger Williams Park and Andrew had them carve a pumpkin that said, ‘Amy will you marry me?’ It was amazing.”

Like their engagement, the couple’s wedding day also had a distinctive twist. While most brides and grooms dance along to the tunes of other artists, Amy and Andrew took to the stage themselves. “We are both performers and had actually never sung together, so we decided to surprise our family and friends with a duet of “Loving Cup” by the Rolling Stones,” says Amy. “That made the day stand out.” Another special touch was the couple’s wedding cake. “My father-in-law owns a bakery and he made our cake. It was gorgeous.”

But for Amy, the greatest part of the wedding wasn’t the actual day itself but the time leading up to it. “We were home, not working; it was just us and we were focused on enjoying the process,” she says. “The day was over in a flash and I look back at that time fondly.”
