Lindsay Blake to Scott Reardon

Scott Reardon swept Lindsay Blake off her feet in a swift summer romance. Scott, a law student at Northwestern, was in New York City as a summer associate, while Lindsay worked at an ad agency close by. “During that whole summer feelings started to develop between us, but when he [Scott] left New York to go back to law school at the end of the summer, I felt incredibly sad about his departure and unsure about whether the long distance would work out,” says Lindsay. “It was then that I realized I had really fallen in love and wanted to try as hard as possible to make things work.”

The effort paid off and soon enough, the couple was celebrating their vows at Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, RI. Lindsay’s family is originally from the area and the mansion provided the beauty and backdrop the pair envisioned. “Honestly, I was blown away by the setting,” says Lindsay. “Blithewold encompassed everything I was looking for in a location. It had an elegant historic New England feel and was on the water.”

“What a fabulous couple!” says Karen Bellavance, director of special events. “Our staff fell in love with them. Their wedding day was picture perfect. Cocktails were served on the lawn with the sun sparkling off the bay. Then guests moved to our tent to enjoy fine dining, dancing and a glorious sunset.” Lindsay’s gown, a stunning Amsale in ivory, matched the venue’s sophistication and atmosphere. Her groom was handsome in sharp navy and cream; nautical attire with Thomas Pink ties – orange hued with a dapper design. The navy followed through to the bridesmaids’ attire and the color scheme was most reflected in the tent décor, favors and cake.

While planning their wedding, it was important to Lindsay and Scott to ensure a good time for their guests while truly exemplifying themselves as a couple. “For us,” says Lindsay, “that was creating the most social and laid-back reception possible, but also making sure we had a fantastic band, good food and the Dark-and-Stormy signature drink!”

A sweet moment, one of many, occurred when the newly-wedded couple had a chance to see their guests on the outdoor terrace after taking their photos. “I had just married a great man, had so many amazing friends and family there to celebrate with us, and the décor, location and whether were perfect,” says Lindsay.

You couldn’t ask for anything better than that.
