August 5, 2011 — It was not difficult for Angelo Viera and Lauren Andrews to know what element was most important to them on their wedding day: romance. “When we started planning our wedding I wanted everything to be very romantic from the color scheme, feel in the room, and the music,” says Lauren. “I wanted our special day to be like a fairy tale that was more about us than just being a wedding and celebration.”
The couple met while working together at the Delano Hotel in Miami. “After we met we were inseparable and Angelo was such a romantic,” says Lauren. “Our first trip together he took me to Chamonix in France and we stayed in a small cottage and went skiing in the Alps.” The couple knew their wedding had to fit the tone of their dreamy courtship and engagement. After getting engaged on a boat while sailing in the bay outside of Miami, Lauren knew she wanted to come home to Rhode Island to get married. The Cranston native had long known she wanted to have her wedding in Newport because of the water views and beautiful mansions.
“When I saw OceanCliff I knew right away I wanted to get married there,” says Lauren. “I loved the shape of the room, the view of the bridge, the water, and the outside was just gorgeous.” Lauren knew right away that she wanted flowers and plenty of them in soft white, ivory and light purple with branches and roses mixed in. “I wanted large vases and small vases with beautiful soft colored flowers and crystals dripping out of the vases with candles all over the tables,” says Lauren.
“I loved the Italian culture they brought in and you could really feel the family love,” says Sara Zarrella, the couple’s photographer. “Her [the bride] and her father had a special connection and I remember them dancing a lot and him tearing up with happiness.”
For everyone, Lauren and Angelo’s union was a happy one. “I remember walking down the aisle and Angelo and I not taking our eyes off each other,” says Lauren. “I couldn’t wait to get to the top of the aisle and become his wife.”
