August 5, 2011–The summer after Adam Noska’s high school graduation, he and Kelly Grasso, a classmate who graduated a year earlier, met at a friend’s house. They were both 18 years old. “We started dating, officially, on Christmas of 2001,” says Kelly. Eight years later, a month after they had bought a house together in Dorchester, Massachusetts, he surprised her with a proposal.
Adam had a new job as a lawyer, so Kelly went to see her brother in Los Angeles for the holiday. “He had to work all week, but he flew out and was [in L.A.] for 12 hours,” she says. Kelly, a nurse practitioner, saw a florist truck pull up and went outside, only to find Adam standing there. She describes her husband as “very practical” and “someone who wouldn’t fly across country for one day.”
The couple celebrated during an ideal August evening at the Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum in Bristol. Adam went to school in Bristol, so the couple knew it well. “Bristol is one of our favorite places, and we spent so much time there, it felt right,” says Kelly.
When Kelly selected an invitation that had fireflies coming out of a mason jar, she inadvertently selected a theme for her big day. Lighted mason jars lined the walkway to the reception, where deep purples and grays set a velvety tone to the evening.
Karen Bellavance, director of special events at Blithewold, recalls, “Kelly and Adam were a fabulous couple. Their wedding day was picture perfect with bright blue skies, gorgeous tent décor and incredible food.”
