Ryan Drajewicz asked Kate Runeari to be his wife while on vacation in the south of France. The couple were enjoying a bottle of wine and talking about their future when the sprinklers turned on and sprayed Ryan and the ring he had in his pocket. “It was such a funny moment,” remembers Kate, “especially since I had no idea what was really going on.“ After changing into a hotel robe, Ryan officially proposed.
When Kate and Ryan told their wedding planner, Michelle Neff of Dreaming Tree Events, that they wanted a shoreline Connecticut wedding, she knew just the place. After showing them Latitude 41 at Mystic Seaport, the couple instantly agreed. “Mystic is so beautiful, and Latitude 41 seemed like the perfect mix of history and functionality for a wedding,” says Kate.
The nautical-inspired affair was filled with personal details and unique additions, including invitations and corn-hole games made by Kate’s sister and signs made by her dad. The couple’s favorite cocktail, “The Dirty Shirley,” was served as their signature drink, complete with custom straws.
“It was just a really fun wedding where people danced all night, and there was an amazing feeling of closeness that you don’t often find,” says Michelle.
The ceremony proved to be the favorite moment of the day for both the bride and groom. The weather was perfect and the inclusion of a special family tradition, writing personal letters to each other to be read aloud, added an intimate and memorable touch for both the couple and guests.
