July 7th, 2012. It seems apropos that Rob proposed to Jenny on 1/1/2011. “I knew he was the ONE. Rob is the most genuine and nicest person I know. He is incredible!” says Jenny of her groom. The couple has enjoyed their union since their first date at the Beehive in Boston back in 2007, and all throughout grad school. “We just love spending time together doing things like cooking and hiking. We’re also fully content just being together,” she says.
Jenny and Rob spent the year prior to their wedding in Germany buttoning up wedding plans before their departure and fine-tuning details remotely. The ceremony took place on July 7, 2012 at the lovely Regatta Place on historic Goat Island in Newport. The venue’s steeply -pitched tent offers a bit of Newport’s Old World glamour while its dockside location, looking back across the harbor at downtown Newport, is all about the water. One of Jenny’s favorite memories is when Rob texted “I am so excited. I can’t wait to marry you,” just before the wedding.
The couple wrote their vows in letter format and privately read them to each other prior to the ceremony. Next, they rolled them up and placed them in a bottle, corked it and tossed it into the ocean. Adding to the loveliness of the wedding was a cake specially designed by Scrumptions. “Jen worked with one of our designers, Jennifer Miller, and selected a gorgeous three-tier white cake with strawberries and a champagne filling,” says Anna Carreiro, executive pastry chef and president of Scrumptions. “Jennifer recalls that the cake was the quintessential wedding dessert, simple, elegant and delicious.” The perfect ONE.
