This summer, Southern New England Weddings will have a new voice and a fresh take: meet our intern, Michaela Bisienere. We’re so happy to have her contribute her thoughtful writing and fun, fashion-savvy perspective to our publications in the coming weeks. She basically had us at “can I write an article about greige?” Here’s a little more about Michaela, in her own words, plus a roundup of inspiration from her Pinterest account.
Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be spending the summer interning with Southern New England Weddings. I’m a junior at the University of Florida in Gainesville and am studying journalism. Although I grew up in Orlando right around the corner from Disney World, every June for as long as I can remember I’ve packed up my bags to spend summers on Cape Cod (and prepared myself for the two-day car ride up the coast with my dad that comes with it). I love everything about New England and find myself constantly inspired by my home away from home.
In addition to writing for Gainesville’s student-run paper, the Independent Florida Alligator, I’ve blogged about health, fitness, music and fashion. Outside of journalism, I love taking photos, going on road trips, live music and reading. I tend to be a little bit of a book and magazine hoarder, and I’m a secret history nerd – I’m always dragging my family and friends to museums and historical sites when I travel.
I’ll be blogging regularly about anything and everything weddings, but I’m also going to be making updates on my experience as an intern and what it’s like to be behind the scenes at Southern New England Weddings.
As of right now, I’m a couple of weeks into the internship and still not over the fact that I can spend hours lost in Pinterest boards and consider it a professional pursuit. I’ve always dreamed of working at a magazine, so I’m soaking up every second of what it’s like to put together a publication, and everything that goes into its production.
Along with doing tasks like making media requests and blogging, I’ve been exploring new places in New England and looking everywhere for creative inspiration for our blog posts, photo shoots and features. There’s so much beauty in the stories of how every wedding comes together, and I can’t wait to get a closer look at how some of those stories get told.
Stay tuned for more posts from Michaela! In the meantime, feast your eyes on a few pins we’re digging from her boards:
