Christine & Ryan

It was the sweetest introduction for couple Christine Tardiff and Ryan Doucette. Christine, a custom cake designer, had been working at Ryan’s family’s business, Dyane’s Sweet Tooth, for less than a year. “Before I even met him, I knew everything about him,” she recalls. When he finally walked in the door six months later, she was caught off guard: “I was like, okay, Ryan’s here and I’m covered in sugar.”
Three years later, the couple bought a house together. Ryan popped the question the following February. “He asked me to put something in one of the eaves at our house. I reached in and there was this old box in there and it totally creeped me out! I was like, ‘Oh my God, there’s a box in there!’ and he said, ‘Well, go get it!’” Inside was a piece of antique-looking paper, with a note written in calligraphy: “Will you marry me?”
They used the box to bear the rings at their wedding, which took place at historic mansion and museum Linden Place. “The setting was perfect, with old chandeliers. Our florist hung vines from the rafters. We did a Marie Antoinette theme—I carved out the center of our cake and painted a picture of Marie Antoinette,” says Christine.
