Geordan Mandell and Rich Cascais

September, 1, 2012. When Geordan Mandell and Rich Cascais began planning their wedding, they knew they wanted an outdoor wedding at a venue that was totally unique but that also had sentimental value to them. Jonathan Edwards Winery in North Stonington, CT, was exactly what they were looking for.

The vineyard, just a mile from Geordan’s childhood home and less than 10 minutes from the town where the couple met, provided a gorgeous outdoor backdrop for their wedding and reception and allowed for stunning photos taken by Miles and Melissa, the husband and wife team behind Miles Witt Boyer Photography. “The vineyard was a perfect combination of the New England rustic charm and casual yet elegant atmosphere we were looking for,” says Geordan.

Event Coordinator Sarah True of True Event helped Geordan and Rich pull together all the right elements to create a magical evening full of love and laughter. “Geordan and Rich’s wedding was a designer’s dream,” she says. “They wanted to create an experience that was unique to them and not like any other wedding they have been to. Using a palette of warm tones and deep plums we designed a tablescape that felt like it was set under the Tuscan sun.”

So many things make a wedding a success, but memorable details like the homemade chuppah turned into a work of art by florist Yumiko Fletcher of Hana Floral Design, and the highly danceable choices made by D.J. Eric Visa, are what Geordan and Rich remember fondly.  “As we danced our last dance to our favorite song and I sang the lyrics into Rich’s ear, our friends, family and guests formed a large circle around us to share in our last moment,” says Geordan. “Having all my favorite people in the room to celebrate the love that Rich and I have for each other is truly a once in a lifetime experience and a dream come true.”
