Jaime & Dennis

When Jaime Van Ness met Dennis Soucy, she knew there was something special about him. They had found each other on Match.com and had shared enjoyable text and phone conversations. But once they were actually in the same room together, the chemistry was undeniable.
“We connected immediately,” Jaime says, adding that they “fell in love pretty quickly.” Jaime, who has two children from a previous marriage, and Dennis, who has three, were careful to take things slow and establish their relationship before introducing the kids. “We’re very fortunate in that this has been a really positive situation,” says Jaime.
“The kids all get along and were excited to be a part of the day.” The “day” she refers to was their wedding, held in June 2016, nearly four years after they met and a year after they were engaged (at Sandy Neck Beach on Cape Cod, where Soucy hid a diamond ring in a seashell box in the sand).
Because it was the second marriage for both, the pair focused on more than just their union as husband and wife. “It was important to us to show our kids that it was not just about us, but about our families coming together,” Jaime says. “What better way to do that than to include them in the wedding party?” Dennis’ two daughters were bridesmaids, while his son was his best man. Jaime’s two daughters were her maids of honor.
The wedding, held at Shining Tides in Mattapoisett, went off without a hitch. The couple hosted the rehearsal dinner at their home in Rochester. Sixty-five family members and friends attended the wedding.
“We had the most beautiful weather. It really was picture-perfect,” Jaime recalls. “I remember looking around the room during the reception and seeing the faces of all of the people who I love and who I really wanted to be there, and just having this overwhelming feeling of happiness.”
