Side by side in Adirondack chairs looking out at a golden sunset, it was clear to the newlyweds that planning a destination wedding had been the right choice.
Needing a break from political campaigning, D.C. locals Matt and Emily first set their sights on a June wedding in Newport after visiting the historic waterfront estate, OceanCliff. After months of challenging long distance planning, Emily says, “Our entire weekend was a dream.” Friends and family flew from all over, while a call from a good friend serving in Afghanistan perfected the night.
Creating a full Newport experience for guests, while keeping with their Italian heritage, was a must for the weekend. “A lot of attention was paid to navy and yellow nautical details,” says the bride. Touches of lemon paired perfectly with the grosgrain ribbon found on the centerpieces and bridesmaids’ bouquets.
The couple’s photographer, Laurie Bailey, recalls the “understated, classic elegance” of the couple, the details and the perfect New England setting.
