As freshmen at Bryant University, Benjamin Goula helped Tram Tran move into her dorm, conveniently located next to his. It turned out to be a very good move (pun intended) and one that would lead to their mutual future. The two friends, who spent hours talking in the hallway of their dorms, eventually became a couple. In May 2015, they bought a house together.

“After the closing, we came straight to our house, and when I turned around to get the house key from him, he was down on one knee with a ring,” says Tram.

Saphire Estate was the first venue they looked at. Tram was immediately impressed by how professional and responsive the staff was. The lake and garden on the property perfectly suited the couple’s desire to host both an outdoor marriage ceremony and tea ceremony, a tradition of Tram’s Vietnamese culture. Tram chose vibrant summer tones of coral and pink for the bridesmaids’ dresses and flowers.

“We wanted an intimate celebration with our family and friends,” Tram says. “Neither of us likes the spotlight; we just wanted everyone to have fun and get to know each other.”

During the afternoon tea ceremony, they were entertained with a surprise performance by a dragon band. Among the most memorable moments of the day was the couple’s first look. “We both cried,” notes Tram. She remembers how intimate the marriage ceremony was. “Our justice of the peace made it so meaningful; she told our story and talked about why we were all there.”

Personal touches were integrated throughout the reception: Tram and her bridesmaids arranged the centerpieces and spent more than 20 hours making the cake pop favors. A friend working on a home renovation gave them the windowpane used as the seating chart.

Reflecting on her day as a whole, Tram says it all “went by so fast.”

“Having everyone there for us was so special.”
