Graduates of Harvard University, Jennie Markham and Max Tedaldi walked away from the Ivy League school with more than just an education. By the time the pair’s graduation rolled around, there was more than mortar boards in the air; there was also love.

Meeting as freshmen at an ice cream social on their very first day, Jennie and Max felt an immediate connection that eventually led to a marriage proposal and their wedding at the Boston Public Library.

“Boston is so special to us because it’s where we met and got engaged. Max loves to write and I love to read; the library just felt so ‘us,’” says Jennie. “[The library] is unique, with a number of beautiful spaces, including an Italian courtyard and reading room. We immediately fell in love with the classic elegance and the fact that it wasn’t stuffy or too fussy.”

Jennie and Max exchanged vows surrounded not only by family and friends, but also by great literature. Max’s brother, a classical musician, arranged and played all of the music for the ceremony, while the bride’s and groom’s siblings each gave a toast.

“We wanted everything to have a family focus,” Jennie says. “The day was not only about the joining of two people, but our families coming together.”

In addition to the many magical moments Jennie shared with her new husband, including the exchange of individually written vows, the memories she has of another important man in her life also remain vivid in her mind. “I remember seeing my dad get all choked up before I walked down the aisle. That really surprised me and touched my heart.”
