Linsey Reis is a romantic, a designer and a snow lover, so the blizzard that blew in on her wedding day was practically made to order. “I felt like I had manifested the snow,” she says, adding that she never doubted it would fall—it was all part of her plan.

She and her husband, Joe Casamassima, were married at the Providence Public Library, a grand historic building rich in dramatic architectural details. The conveniently located venue was chosen with guests—and the blizzard they would surely be battling—in mind. Also, Joe is a bibliophile, so it was a natural fit.

Linsey took control of the wedding planning and design. “I’m into crystal quartz—that’s what inspired me. It’s wintry and neutral.” She wanted muted tones so as not to distract from the beauty of the venue. Extensive research pointed her toward succulents and lamb’s ear. “It’s hard to make a flower feel wintry without going into red,” she says. To play off her bridesmaids’ black sequinned dresses, she chose anemone and romantic amnesia roses for the floral arrangements. Painted gold rocks strewn across the tables kept with her “grand-rustic” style, and a gold ombre cake with white rock candy tied in with the winter theme.

As magical and romantic as their big day was, Linsey never lost sight of what mattered most. “When people are planning their wedding, it’s important to remember they found the love of their life—that’s what it’s about.”
