Every year Patrick and Adare spend a week during the summer in Chatham. It was on one of these stays, after the beach cleared out of sunbathers, that Patrick got down on one knee and proposed.
The first stop the newly engaged couple made was to Chatham Bars Inn to see if the oceanfront luxury resort had any wedding openings for the next summer. “CBI had always been one of our favorite spots in Chatham,” Adare explains.
The wedding was decorated top-to-bottom in the casual beach theme. Turquoise bridesmaid dresses and matching custom-made earrings and necklaces from Oliphant Designs evoked visions of the Atlantic sea, which sparkled just outside the Beach House reception hall. Scallop seashells embellished everything from the hand-painted menus, escort and drink cards by Pikme Papers to the customdesigned Vineyard Vines ties for the groomsmen.
Floral Designer Patrice R. Milley created the flower arrangements. “Adare requested a big bouquet of garden rose to carry, preferring shades of pink and peach over the traditional white and/or ivory bouquet,” explains Patrice. “So I created her bouquet using a mix of Juliet and Miranda roses.” “Patrice created the most gorgeous bouquet I’ve ever seen,” exclaims Adare.
Adare and Patrick’s favorite detail, however, was the party favor they gave to guests at the very end of the night. After a sparkler sendoff, the couple had an ice cream truck waiting in the parking lot. “Patrick and I climbed into [the truck] and handed out ice cream to all of our shocked guests,” Adare remembers. “It was the perfect send off to a perfect night.”
