I was so touched and inspired by the write up of this wedding, featured on Love My Dress, that I had to share. I hope it helps you kick off your weekend, too! My hat is off to this English couple who embraced a hands-on approach to their wedding, prioritized keeping cost (and waste) at a minimum and pulled off an utterly beautiful day. When an English chef marries her barista boyfriend, one might expect that food will be a priority. So, to save money and still eat like royalty, they actually orchestrated a potluck among their guests by asking everyone to bring enough for 6 people. To ensure a hearty meal was had, they organized the menu by sharing a spreadsheet and recipes online. For dessert, Alex, the bride, made 9 different kinds of cakes and sweets herself.
While most of us can only admire someone with this much DIY-savvy, it’s still so inspiring to hear about how a couple made choices that were right and manageable for them. Obviously a great location and a killer photographer were high on their list.
If you’re stressing over how you’re going to afford the wedding of your dreams, give some thought to which parts of your day are most important, and focus on those things. The best thing about wedding vendors is that all of them understand the realities of budgeting. Be frank about what you are able to spend, and trust in their creativity and experience: they will work with you to make something memorable, no matter what! Be sure to check out the post on Love My Dress for more photos and details of the day here.
