A Real Life Version of “The Notebook”

Get your tissues ready, this story is sure to make you shed a tear. Reminiscent of Noah and Allie in one of the best love stories of our time, an Ohio couple married for 65 years died 11 hours apart in the nursing home room they shared. In a “final act of love”  the Knapke family believes that Harold Knapke went first so he could accompany his wife Ruth into the afterlife. Sniff – talk about true love!

Allie is a native New Yorker who fell in love with Rhode Island after studying Journalism at URI and living by the beach. After several years in Manhattan working in public relations and digital media, Allie returned to the Ocean State and currently resides in Newport.
